Amwell Awarded Gold Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health

By Amber Howe, Chief People Officer, Amwell

Stress and anxiety among workers is at an all-time high. At Amwell, we are committed to providing the tools, resources and benefits our employees need to support their total well-being, as well as cultivating a supportive environment that promotes and normalizes mental health.

I am incredibly proud to have our approach to fostering a mentally healthy workplace recognized and awarded a gold Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health by Mental Health America.

Investing in the mental health of our employees is not just good for business, it’s the right thing to do. As a company enabling better access to mental healthcare for all, I am proud to say that we are equally committed to fostering a culture of well-being within our organization. We do this by offering a competitive package of benefits and programming to support our employees’ mental health including:

  • Free access to virtual and automated behavioral health programs through Amwell Therapy, Amwell Psychiatry and SilverCloud, as well as an employee assistance program
  • Designated mental health and volunteer days
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Robust mental health programming, training and resources
  • Unlimited paid time off to support a positive work-life balance

“We are pleased to recognize Amwell with [their] Bell Seal award. Whether it’s elevating diverse voices through a DEI blog and podcast, supporting a feedback-friendly environment, or providing meaningful wellness and professional development opportunities, Amwell has demonstrated their commitment to well-being in the workplace by receiving this certification.”

About Mental Health America and the Bell Seal Award

Mental Health America is the nation's leading nonprofit dedicated to promoting mental health, wellbeing and illness prevention. Its work is informed, designed and led by the lived experiences of those most affected.
There are less than 170 Bell Seal-certified companies nationwide. To be considered, Mental Health America completes a holistic evaluation of an employer’s practices and considers the entire employee experience. The review analyzes culture, benefits, compliance and wellness offerings, which resulted in Amwell being awarded recognition at one of the highest distinctions.

Total Rewards Philosophy

At Amwell, we recognize that our employees are our greatest asset to achieve our short- and long-term business objectives and understand that our employees are all unique and have different physical, mental, financial and social needs. As such, Amwell provides a robust suite of benefit and wellbeing programs to support the total being of each of our employees.
We are committed to creating and fostering a culture that educates, celebrates, and elevates diversity, including diversity in experiences and thought. We embrace and encourage professional development by promoting a learning culture where employees feel empowered to grow and develop individually and in their career. This total rewards philosophy provides a framework that supports Amwell’s mission to transform care delivery and make care more accessible to all by rewarding behaviors that support our key values of Customer First, One Team, and Deliver Awesome.
While we have a lot to be proud of, as the mental health epidemic continues to grow and workplace dynamics evolve, we remain committed to continuously improving our culture to meet the changing needs of our employees.
