Many health systems leveraged on-demand virtual video visits to triage patients and facilitate testing during the COVID-19 pandemic. But these organizations quickly realized that virtual care would also play a large role in providing ongoing care to existing patients. Penn State Health, a multi-hospital health system in central Pennsylvania, onboarded more than 800 providers onto its virtual platform to provide ongoing care in several specialties.
Norman Regional Health System in Oklahoma went from having one specialist using telehealth to nearly 200 and saw a threefold month-over-month increase in scheduled virtual visits.
